Never mind - just found the attach button - so here are couple of recordings in case there's time for them.  The Poulenc Novelette is 2:40, and I am dropping in a short Ravel excerpt too 0:52 - Rigaudon from Le Tombeau - because I finally figured out a way to play it without crossing hands and I thought other struggling amateurs might appreciate that.

Thanks for the kind remarks, Claudia.   I’ve always been a Poulenc fan.  His music has its own style - sometimes quirky - always melodic and joyful.  And much of it is very accessible - you don’t need to be Horowitz to play it.   Check out ‘Melancolie’ if you haven’t heard it before.  It’s an absolute gem.

This is my first submission to Tonebase! I recorded four times, and each time got progressively worse, haha! So, here's my first attempt (when I was relaxed, I think!) The beginning is quite slow as I was worried the train would derail, but I picked it up eventually. Thank you for this opportunity to share a piece that I've wanted to learn for years.

Confirming that I'm going to challenge my memorization by playing the B Major Prelude and Fugue from Book 2 of the Well Tempered Clavier.

My Rachmaninoff Preludes, unfortunately, are STILL not ready for performance, something I will be addressing head-on in the upcoming Unfinished Business Challenge!

that is a great challenge Peter and I look forward to hearing it! My piano has taken a peculiar turn in that the B keeps misfiring- nothing that I can see so I’m just ignoring it at this stage and hoping it sorts itself out. Also sounding terribly out of tune… change in the weather I guess.
      See you shortly!

thanks Angela. Sorry to hear about the piano anomalies.  But look on it as good practice for a performance career where you never know what kind of shape the piano is an at the venue where you are performing!  I'm sure your Mozart is going to sound great regardless.

I can relate to that; my piano has also recently gone crazy! It is very out of tune, generally in need of regulation, and 50% of the time, one of the F-sharps (that I have to play staccato frequently) rebounds and sustains when I don't want it to! I think it is caused by the weather/change of seasons.

Absolutely =) I generally have my piano tuned and regulated twice a year around April and October as it moves to extended warm or cold weather. In this last year I had three tunings and two regulations. Sticky keys, buzzing, bobbles, damper inconsistency etc. are things that definitely happen as the weather and humidity changes. It can be costly but all part of keeping our beautiful instruments operating at their best!

yes I think you are right. My tuning is overdue, I usually get tuned March/April and September/October, like you with the changes in weather. I’m sure my tuner will sort it out! But hey, as Peter said, ‘who needs a supertonic?’

thank you Peter, post concert it was a little distracting- partly because it felt so odd, a thud under the finger. However, your Bach was impressive! Congratulations!

My piano is new (it is probably "learning to talk"-age) so I have to get it tuned about 4 times a year.  We originally planned to get it tuned and regulated in February or March, but the weather was strange and the tech decided to wait, so it is quite overdue.

What a wonderful concert today! We had to leave after the live section, so I'm making my way through all the recordings.

Here's a recording of the Schubert Thurmond and I performed today in case anyone missed it and wants to listen (tempo was a bit quicker than we had practiced: the joys of live performance, and something I need to become accustomed to).
