I'd like to play the Tom Roed arrangement of "Gesu Bambino."  I've played it in church services before, so it just needs a brush-up.  I think it's a lovely arrangement!

  • I’ve been having fun digging through holiday music books I’ve collected over the years with the best of intentions to play, but somehow never got around to as Christmas always arrives and passes so fast. Then yesterday I checked Dominic’s suggestions and I liked the Schumann and Tchaikovsky January. So my plan now is to try to learn January, and if it’s not ready for a video by the deadline to record one of the holiday arrangements I have.

  • A little late to the party here, but I will of course participate. I've been looking threw Dominic's suggestions, and decided to play Dance of the sugar plum fairy from - The Nutcracker. I could add some jazz pieces for this challenge as well :)

Sindre Skarelven We should both add some jazz!  I'm working on the Jingle Bells arrangement at Piano with Jonny...but right now I sound more like "Jungle" bells, LOL!

    Dear Tonebase Family,

Monika and I met during one of Dominic's excellent LiveStreams back in October.  After becoming friends over Zoom, we came up with the idea of trying a 4-hand piece, even though we live 5,000 miles apart.

At first, we tried to record both parts over Zoom, but we realized that the tiny time lag (Monika is in France and I'm in Florida) made our recording sound REALLY funny...and we were laughing too much to even hear our pianos.

So, after consulting both Martin & Dominic, we decided to record the Primo first (Monika) and I (Gail) would record Secondo on top of it.  After a quick visit to iMovie to create a split screen, we offer you the first efforts of the Tonebase-inspired "Franco-American Duo".

    Happy Holidays,

    Monika & Gail
