Parts 1 and 2 of this weeks assignment. Enjoyed the Burgmuller. Playing C major with the groupings was harder than I thought it would be but I can see how it would help in gaining speed. Rewatched Jarred Dunnās lessons on scales and also Penelope Roskellās lesson. Definitely have questions on my technique (hand shape/alignment/position on keys, etc) after watching those videos.

Here is my first recording of BurgmĆ¼ller's Progress. Thanks for watching. There are definitely a few hiccups and I didn't take the repeat. I still need to download a couple of things, but I had Progress on hand. Everyone who is posting videos, great! If you are on a laptop you can embed your link in the post. I am having trouble "assimilating" the new chromatic fingering when I put hands together. Anyone else? I will continue with slow practice to see if I can make the switch. I love Dom's rationale. I am just so use to the traditional fingering. It's also how I teach it, but I am open to new fingering!

Denise just trying to relearn the chromatic scale in the Pathetique. To relearn the fingering is bad enough with just one hand I think . On the other hand I was never really able to play it fast enough with the traditional fingering either. So Iām hoping to improve

Andrea Buckland I will put that on my todo. I am currently working on Schubert's Impromptu #3 Op 142. Hoping the scale intensive will help me with the last variation. But I definitely should look at some pieces with chromatic runs. :-)

Itās nice to see all the videos everyone posted! I worked mainly on the grouping notes regimen of all the scales on the last page of Ballade. Iām hoping if I keep it grouped long enough on the chromatic I can make the change with using finger 4 - when I try to play the scale straight the 3 on all the black keys automatically resurfaces! I revisited Progress which I played a long time ago. I also spent time practicing 4 different scales a day (2 major, 2 minor) bringing back how I used to practice them. I think Dominic said it was called the āgrandā scale where itās parallel and contrary. That was what I was assigned in my second year of music study at college about 15 years ago. All the majors in the first semester and the harmonic minors in the second semester. I was extremely thankful to my professor for making me learn all those scales since before that I see only one D major scale in my old Schaum book. I must have played that D scale when I was a kid and had lessons for a couple of months, but I donāt even remember. I didnāt think to make a video of my regular scales practice since it wasnāt listed in the instructions but now that I see others have posted regular scales Iāll do that next time too. I will get started on the Czerny. I had a little trouble figuring out how to get into this forum site at first but I think Iām dialed in nowā¦
