Well, this is an older thread, but I'm going to mention anyway: I've been listening to early recordings recently, and found this amazing one of Brahms! (Just for reference, Eibenschutz, the pianist, was the first to hear Brahms play the op. 118 and 119, and also premiered them a few months later. Brahms also thought to be one of the best interpreters of his music) I've never heard Brahms played this way before, and it really changes how I view Brahms' music.

Claire Huangci’s Rachmaninov Preludes. Opus 23 no. 6 is especially amazing- probably the best rendition I’ve ever heard and I’ve heard A LOT. Huangci bests my old favorite Ashkenazy but also all other recordings of the complete preludes. Thank you Ms. Huangci for this miraculous recording!

For me it has been Polonaise Fantasie performed by Kate Liu during her Chopin competition.

Beethoven 3. piano concerto with Maria Joao Pires. She has really small hands and mastered this cadenca brilliantly.

Is it ok if I reply to a seven month old thread?

I finally joined ToneBase a few weeks ago with a lifetime subscription. I have been blown away by the wonderful community you have built.

So, at the risk of overloading , here is my favorite recording from today.

Dominic, I doubt you get many people saying that they listen to your Disklavier recording, but I am grateful that you made it. It’s beautiful. I will buy every disk you record.

How did you come to record for the Disklavier? I know it is a small market and all, but I think player pianos are special.

Supposedly, Rachmaninov was so unnerved when heard his own playing that he walked out of the studio. He returned a few days later, and said let’s continue. Haha.

I own a Yamaha DYUS5. I love the piano. I am glad that Yamaha sells a relatively affordable player acoustic upright.
