  • Well, this is an older thread, but I'm going to mention anyway: I've been listening to early recordings recently, and found this amazing one of Brahms! (Just for reference, Eibenschutz, the pianist, was the first to hear Brahms play the op. 118 and 119, and also premiered them a few months later. Brahms also thought to be one of the best interpreters of his music) I've never heard Brahms played this way before, and it really changes how I view Brahms' music.

Claire Huangci鈥檚 Rachmaninov Preludes. Opus 23 no. 6 is especially amazing- probably the best rendition I鈥檝e ever heard and I鈥檝e heard A LOT. Huangci bests my old favorite Ashkenazy but also all other recordings of the complete preludes. Thank you Ms. Huangci for this miraculous recording!

  • For me it has been Polonaise Fantasie performed by Kate Liu during her Chopin competition.
