Is it ok or not to take lessons with two teachers in the same time?
I recently got back into taking piano lessons for the first time in about 4-5 years. I did extensive research on local piano teachers that are professional enough and that I could take lessons with and I contacted many of them to check their availabilities. I got responses from a couple of really good teachers and I wasn't sure on which one to choose to proceed with, so I decided to try a few lessons with each of them and then decide.
They both have different approaches. One is very analytical and goes to a very high level of details on fingering, articulation, position. The other is a fabulous pianist and performer and he gives me high-level but very mature comments, so it feels like more of a masterclass. I have been taking lessons with both teachers for around 1.5 months. I don't work on the same piece with both teachers so they don't give me mixed comments and interpretations about the same music.
I am learning a lot from each teacher and they are both enriching me in different ways. However, I never mentioned to each of them that I was also taking lessons with another teacher. Is this wrong or ethical to do that in anyway, or is there any kind of musical exclusivity between a teacher and a student so that would be unethical? Or this is normal and it is good to learn from different approaches?
