Start to learn Chopin op. 61
Hello friends! Although I am still busy with Chopin Sonata 3 I need another piece sometimes. I decided to start with Chopin op. 61 Polonaise-Fantasie. It‘s really new. I have never played it before. Started with 45 min today. Maybe somebody want to learn it too.
Let‘s go. I will record something tomorrow. See you.

Hi Kerstin, I’ve started to learn the Polonaise-Fantaisie a few years ago and played it for my LTCL exam last year. For me, it is one of the pieces that you never finish learning. But so rewarding when you can play it. My favorite interpretations are by Kate Liu and Daniil Trifonov. Enjoy the learning! Best regards

I have studied the piece with three different teachers over the years and played it in a solo recital at my church a year ago. I am plenty busy with the new literature I am learning for the Tonebase Piano Camp at Adamant, VT, in August, but it might be fun to pick up this piece again “on the side” and share a recording, and maybe some advice based on lots of painful personal experience. I am sure you have already realized that it is much, much harder than it looks on the page. My personal favorite recording - and yes, I’m biased, but it is really good - is the one by one of Jarred Dunn’s teachers, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń. It’s on her 2013 album simply titled “Frédéric Chopin”, available on Amazon. The entire CD is just exceptional and highly recommended.
