Andrea Buckland Natalie Peh Vidhya Bashyam Michelle R Michael Thank you so much, dear piano friends! No Michael, I don't perform publicly at all; a year ago, when I subscribed to Tonebase I couldn't imagine any way that I would be making these videos and sharing them with other people...

Dominic Cheli : Thurmond would like to send in a recording of the Sarabande #1 in A minor (from the Zwei Sarabanden - I don't see an opus number) for Jarred to listen to. Will it be OK to send the recording on Monday evening? (He can't perform live as he has a class at 11am PST.)

Dominic Cheli Thanks, Dominic. We'll get the recording in tomorrow.

He seemed to really settle into playing yesterday at the community concert - his regular teacher was gone last week, and she recommended a substitute who had trained in the Taubman technique with Robert Durso. I heard a noticeable difference after that one lesson. She showed him a different way to think about and play the polyrhythms.

Dominic Cheli Hi Dominic, I just saw the performer list and it looks like Thurmond was not chosen. I'm submitting his recording just in case I have misunderstood, as we just finished it! This is a new piece for him (his first Brahms), having it for less than a week. He was curious about playing it like the dance or if that wouldn't be the case here. Thanks.

    • Michelle R Thanks for this! Jarred had selected a few pieces he wanted to teach but I will share this video with him as well! We may or may not get to it, but thanks for recording this!!

Dominic Cheli Thank you - we understand though Thurmond was disappointed when he saw the performer list. He'll be thankful for any feedback if Jarred has time - and if not, he's learned his first piece by Brahms!

  • Have also played the first 3 pieces of Brahms Op.118 and here is one of my old performance of Op.118 No.2. I'd love to play all 3 live (if there are still spots). How does live playing work? I've only done Zoom so not sure how the audio streaming would work for this seesion.

Yuchao Zhou Great playing, Zhou! Thank you for sharing it!

    • Yuchao Zhou Basically the way it works is that you would join a private zoom meeting with Jarred and myself. And I would stream THAT meeting onto the tone base platform. With "original sound enabled" you can actually get some good feedback and lessons this way! Then the rest of the audience will observe on the tone base website!

    • Dominic Cheli Yes if time allows. I can play No 1-3 live with the score (or part of it if running out of time). I've practiced No.2 longer and it is more in shape. No.1 and 3 I can play more or less fluently but not as solid as No.2
