    I 've found this exercise very interesting because it's made me think of works I have played in recitals a few times and I haven't reviewed in a very long time. Also, other different combinations of pieces that I love, and yes, wish to play in a recital sometime. But the most interesting part is the composers that I have to look for and listen, get to know their style and musical language.

    It's been an eye opening excercise!

    Thank you Dominic!

    Love the question and LOVE the responses.

    Open with beautiful classical piano

    * Beethoven Op 109 *

    Continue the beauty

    * Chopin Ballade No 4 in F minor *

    Give the fingers a rest and then tackle

    * Cambridge Music by Pavel Karmanov for piano quartet *

    Dive in to the exuberant

    * American in Paris by Gershwin *

    And finish with a meditation

    * Fur Alina Arvo Part *

    Enjoyed this exercise and just might have to start working on it...

  • I have a very nerdy Toccata exclusive recital which would go like this:

    Paradisi: Toccata

    Bach - Toccata in E minor

    Liszt - Toccata, S.197

    Chopin - Etude op. 10 no. 7 (Toccata)

    Khachaturian - Toccata

    Debussy's Toccata

    Amaral Vieira - Toccata

    Sancan - Toccata

    Kapustin - Eight Concert Etudes Op.40 No.3 (Toccatina)

    Poulenc - Toccata

    Saint-Saens - Toccata op.111 no.6

    Maurice Ravel - Toccata from "Le tombeau de Couperin" (1917)

    Sergei Prokofiev - Toccata in D Minor, Op. 11 (1912)

    Out of these, I play only Ravel's and Prokofiev's so it would take some time to prepare all of them but would surely make an interesting recital.
