Any recommendations for teachers in Philadelphia?

My wife and I are considering a move to Philadelphia.

I’m excited about the classical music scene in Philly.

Can anybody recommend music teachers in Philadelphia who like to teach adults? I always show up for lessons and I practice every day. :)

I'm probably a little far for a drive, but could offer online lessons. They work really well. I'm a classically trained pianist and can supplement with different genres of interest, living in York, Pa.

Hello Kimberly, thanks for the reply. Yeah, that's too far for me to drive. I may well give up my car for good and go back to a walking lifestyle.

I'm hoping to walk to lessons in Philadelphia, anywhere in the Center City area, Rittenhouse, down to south street.

After almost three decades of in-person lessons on violin, classical guitar, and piano, I am used to that format.

I just saw your reply. Then try Settlement Music School, https://settlementmusic.org/. They have several locations in Philly. They have many teachers but I only know Rahel and a violin teacher there.

I'm sure you can find someone - it's a big area with lots of fine musicians. You'd be surprised though, at how good online lessons can be. I've taken many myself. Best of luck to you and welcome to the Commonwealth!

Thanks Kimberly! We would be moving between the “P” cities, Pittsburgh to Philadelphia.

I am excited by the classical music scene in Philly.

I don't know if she currently has room for students but you could try Rahel Inniger: [email protected]. She's an excellent pianist, teacher and musician. She teaches at 2 music schools (Settlement in Philly and Main Line Conservatory in Ardmore) and also at home.

Thanks. Do you take lessons from him? I might be a little terrified of playing in front of him, lol.

I don’t know any piano teacher but I used to teach at Universities in Philly and there’s definitely some great music professors that teach there, perhaps take a look at their name and see if they offer personal lessons? Also, go to old city, UPenn area, there’s a lot of live concerts with Jazz pianists to talk to ! Hope you enjoy your time there

I can heartily recommend Susan Ricci Rogel just outside of Philly.
