Michael Furmaniak it is really such a beautiful song. You did a very good job and I enjoyed that. I noticed a few things about your hand technique that I would like to share because I’ve been really focusing on hand technique recently. If you’re open to it, let me know and I’ll share that.

    Hello everyone!

A good part of the last year I've been visiting "Schubertlandia" (as Vidhya says), playing different impromptus and other pieces. But, as I've uploaded a few videos of these happy travels, I'm sharing you a video of another entire universe where I want to live forever: "Bachlandia". Although we have the Tonebase Bach Stage for that (see "Your Practice Diary"), here I show you the Variation 13 of the Goldberg's Variations, and wish you a very happy (piano included) New Year.

    • Juan Carlos Olite so very beautiful; thank you for sharing. I had to think of J.S. Bach's famous dictum that "the aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul." That's what your playing reminds me of.

Priya Viseskul Andrea Buckland Alexander Weymann Michelle R Thank you so much for your kind words! It's a gorgeous variation. In his edition of the Goldbergs, Pierre Tran calls it "La Sérénade" and I could not agree more, because it's a very beautiful melodic monologue.

Juan Carlos Olite Awesome work! That’s definitely one of the loveliest of the Goldberg Variations. I loved your phrasing and the general direction you take the piece.

Thurmond R Hey Thurmond - I think this is awesome! I particularly enjoy how you are able to play while wearing a blanket! (In case anyone is wondering, it's been quite cold and the room was not warm as it usually is. We had windchills of -15F/-26C, and our home is not made for such cold temperatures.)

    • Thurmond R this is gorgeous. Very moving. Your melodic line is highly expressive and has a sadness and brokenness one rarely hears when this piece is played. And the big climactic passage in the left hand is amazingly well executed. Bravo.
