What are the Two Week Intensives?

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you sat down at the piano and concentrated on one specific aspect of your playing?

Dedicating two weeks to that ONE thing?

Improving your trills, establishing a routine for arpeggio practice, or smoothing out your scales with a guided practice session?

And how would that be if you were not alone?

If a group of like-minded people comes together with a great purpose? Seeing the progress in your playing and being inspired by the growth of your peers?

In this brand new community activity, we bring together a group of ten people who learn together and motivate each other to keep on growing and improving over two weeks. You will be placed in a sub-forum that is only accessible to you, the other participants, and your guide!

  1. For every Two Week Intensive, we will open a Sign-Up-Thread one week before the activity starts, where you can sign-up for the next learning period.
  2. As soon as ten people have signed up, the classroom closes, and we will open the next group. We will have a maximum of two groups for the first Intensives.
  3. You will receive an access code through a forum DM that allows access to the course thread.

We are in this together! Please post a very quick video or audio file twice a week on the topic of the Intensive and help your course partners through feedback on their submissions as well! We will do one Zoom check-in, where you can ask questions to your guide and your peers!

If you realize that you can't fully take advantage of this class and don't want to participate anymore, contact me through a forum DM, and I will remove you from the classroom.

To sum it up:

  1. Post Two Updates per Week, a total of 4 updates. Video submissions work best to receive personalized feedback!
  2. Help others improve and comment on each other's submissions with a helpful advice
  3. Get feedback from your guide
  4. Optionally check in with a Zoom Call

Any questions? Let me know!

Can’t wait! These piano community challenges have been responsible for some of the best progress I have made and these sounds like an excellent opportunity to refine things even more.

Hello! This sounds great. I would like to improve my octaves playing. And maybe we can do it also for special pieces like Chopin Etudes.

  • I'm interested as I could definitely use some help with arpeggios. Would this be geared for all levels or just advanced students?

Is this appropriate for people who are also taking lessons? Or would it be too much? Maybe that's up to the individual, depending on how much time they have to practice, but I'd like to get your thoughts.

    • Randi Anyone can sign up! You can practice scales as little or as much as you like! We would like you to post practice videos of your scale work, short or long!

I am quite interested in working on the arpeggios, especially Debussy's Reflets.

  • I would like to join in. I stopped practicing scales with any regularity a few years ago. This will be the push I need to get them back in shape, and try to top my previous tempos.

This is a fabulous idea, I'd really like to sign up too (if I'm not too late?). I will need to use my laptop for recording, which isn't terribly brilliant, but hopefully will give some idea of my practice. When do we start?

What a great idea! I'm very interested in it, but unfortunately I can't join a group in June, because this month I have several trips and I will not have a piano. Will there be this kind of intensive weeks courses in July?

Juan Carlos Olite I'm in the same situation, leaving tomorrow for a trip, but can't wait to join the another Intensive. Also, I meant to tell you that I learned Barricades Mystérieuses with GREAT enjoyment; it has really enriched my life immensely and I thank you a thousand times for sharing it!!!

Monika Tusnady I am very glad to hear that, Monika. Les Barricades Mystérieuses is that kind of piece conceived more than anything for the pleausre and fulfillment of the performer.  I love this kind of music you can find it in Bach, Couperin, Scarlatti..., before the great composers thought in public, big concert halls and so on...
