"Unlocking the power of your mind" for practice, performance and more! (with Nicolas Namoradze)

This session focuses on mental practice and how to harness its powers for everything from the first steps in learning a piece of music to performing on stage. Topics to be covered include enhancing oneā€™s practice with techniques such as audiation and visualization, getting into (and staying in) the ā€œzone,ā€ building mental resilience, and using meditation and mindfulness to relieve stress and sharpen concentration.

  • Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the livestream; so I plan to catch it on the posted video. This topic (or set of skills) is very important to me. I'm grateful for the opportunity to hear Nicholas' ideas and practice.

Wouild appreciate suggestions for transferring the "feel" of performing the music while reading it and reproducing the sensation and actually playing it accurately at the keyboard.

    Thank you

Hello, Dominic. I won't be able to attend the LIVE session, but I look forward to viewing the recording. I am so grateful that your lessons are archived. Thank you!

Undoubtedly, Nicolas Namoradze will cover this in the lesson, but I wanted to put this question out there: Since we all learn so many life/music lessons as we go, and we synthesize these lessons to the best of our abilities, how do you and Nicolas deem a lesson/technique/tip, etc. worthy of keeping - worthy of integrating into one's routine?

By the results it produces? If so, how long must one give a new technique or suggestion before one can see results? (It is understood that this is dependent on many factors. Just looking for general outlook on this.) Thank you!

  • First of all, congratulations on all your recent awards and successes ā€”and  so glad to see you back here on Tonebase for us!
At one point in an interview or podcast, you mentioned that you were starting a series on meditationā€¦or a podcast. I remember it was difficult to find. If you have continued that, could you guide us how to find it? Also, if I recall, you were involved in some research in neurology as it related to the study of music. Could you speak a little about that? Thank you!

Anxious to find the links and information from this livestream.  It was awesome, and I'd love to learn more.  Will you post them here or somewhere else?

Pauline Very true Pauline! I practice meditation daily and in this session I learned something very useful and new to me. When in meditation or centering yourself a thought comes, you give it a name, let say "thought"or an emotion, for instance, "anxiety". It works.
