ABOUT TONEBASE COMMUNITY CONCERTS:

These events are NOT live-streamed OR recorded, but are private zoom meetings where tonebase members can share their hard work and perform for each other!

These concerts can be played LIVE, or if you can't attend, you can submit a recording!

This is a GENEROUS and SUPPORTIVE space.

Performing is one of the best ways to push yourself, and really evaluate the work/progress you have made!

Repertoire is open to any piece!

Memorization is NOT required.

You can play select movements, or even sections of pieces! No need to perform a complete work!

Playing the piano is fun, but sharing your music with others is one of life's great joys. Join in on the fun and cheer each other on!

FOR OPTIMIZING YOUR ZOOM SETTINGS PLEASE SEE THE SHORT VIDEOS BELOW!

  • I don’t have my schedule yet for this day, but I hope to be able to participate in the concert and play Chopin’s Eb Major Nocturne (op. 9 no. 2). I’ll confirm my availability closer to the date.

Dominic Cheli Hi Dominic - Thurmond won't be able to arrive at 11am because of a class he is in. He could probably play in the 3rd position if that would work for you. Thanks so much - he's looking forward to playing this Nocturne with a few surprises thrown in!

  • Due to last-minute medical appointments for some recent health issues, I will not be able to attend the session. So sorry about this! I was eager to play and hear others in their performances. I'm looking forward to the next time we can all get together and share our talents. Please keep me posted!

  • I had planned to play but now won't be able to due to a very full and tight work schedule next week that will neither allow me to play live nor to record anything. Everyone else, please enjoy this concert with a lovely-sounding program!

Alexander Weymann Alex, I'm sorry we won't be able to hear you. I look forward to next time you're able to play for all of us! I might even challenge myself to play live in a community concert soon.

  • I’m submitting a video from our recent piano class recital, rather than playing Iive. I especially love beautiful repertoire for intermediate students (because I am one!). This year, I’m sharing the short Nocturne from Benjamin Britten’s Sonatina Romantica. Britten wrote this in 1940 for an acquaintance in America who was trying unsuccessfully to master Weber’s Invitation to the Dance. The story goes that Britten told him he could compose for him something (the Sonatina) just as satisfying that he would more readily be able to play. The acquaintance preferred to keep trying to master Weber, though, so this eloquent, evocative little nocturne sat in a drawer until after Britten died. It was first performed publicly in 1983. The piece is under copyright, but the publisher permitted me to share it online with social media friends (not the broader public) without paying for a synch license. The score for is available from fabermusic.com.

Dominic Cheli Please just let me know if I should submit the file to you the file some other way.

    • Sindre Skarelven Absolutely beautiful! Somehow so clear and warm at the same time. Glad you were able to record it so those of us who couldn’t attend yesterday get to hear this! Looking forward to hearing more Rachmaninoff.

Hi everyone! I have planned to play live, but due to a last-minute change in my program I won't be able to do that. I am sorry. I would like to submit a recording instead. I am playing the same piece here. It is from a school concert last month. I hope you like it. Thanks for the opportunity, and love from Istanbul!
