Welcome to the tonebase Piano Community!
Hey everyone - this is Dominic from tonebase !
As the lead of tonebase PIANO it's such a pleasure to welcome you to the tonebase community. We would love to get to know you! Please introduce yourself in a post below with the following format:
- Where are you from and what's your favorite food from there? ;)
- What are you currently working on?
- What are you hoping to get out of this community?
I'll go first:
- I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and you better believe that I love my barbecue! It is hard to pick my favorite food between ribs, brisket, or a beautiful grilled steak, but if I have to decide...nothing beats a juicy, fall-off-the-bone rack of baby back ribs!
- Currently working on some old favorites of mine by Carl Vine (Piano Sonata No.1), Beethoven (Piano Concerto No.4) and Scriabin (Fantasy op.28) but also adding some great repertoire by H. Leslie Adams (Etude in A-flat minor Book 2), Laura Kaminsky (Alluvion), and Clara Schumann (Romanze in A minor Op.21 no.1)!
- I am hoping to getting to know and helping all of you achieve your musical and artistic goals. Let's have some fun and get to work!
Now over to you (after some participation from our tonebase team members!)

My name is Roy from the UK. I’m vegetarian with vegan inclinations so don’t like seeing food posts about dead animals.
I am a trained flute player but stopped professionally due to a number of factors. I had 80 pupils when I changed career. I had four gigs too including a four week opera. I had to take beta blockers to play in public. I thought it was unsustainable to do that throughout my playing life.
I stopped practising the piano when I had to focus on my flute technique. I am now returning to the piano as part of my retirement plan.
I have been playing through my old piano music, which I still have from 50 years’ ago: easier Bach Preludes; easier of the Chopin 24 Preludes; Schubert Samliche Tanze; and lots of standards including Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
I would really like to play with more fluency but realise that it’s down to hours of practice.

Hello! I'm Ana!
- I grew up in the border town of Juarez, Mexico but was born in the USA side, in El Paso Tx. So I'm fluent in Spanish and did most of my schooling in Mexico. Been an LA girl for 11 years now :). Favorite food? chicken with mole (Mexican dish) and I can't leave out lasagna
- I'm more so reviewing The Duke by Dave Brubeck. There's a lot of details I played like a robot the first time I learned the piece.
- Hoping to improve my technique (so far the diminish 7 stretch has helped me so much!), to really have the fundamentals become 2nd nature, grow my knowledge on classical music and theory. My background is contemporary training, or rather they gave me much info in little time so there's a lot of gaps that I want to fill up in order to become a better pianist and musician.

Hi everybody,
My name is Steven Massicotte, I am a professional pianist currently based in Montreal who also runs a YT channel. I am totally new to TB and excited to meet new people here, share ideas, watch videos, and discover this platform.
I am from the province of Quebec in Canada, not sure what my favorite food from here is, but as you have probably heard we do eat something called "poutine", it's basically french fries with gravy and cheese. Total crap, but very tasty and great comfort food when it's made properly!
I am currently working on a totally new program which I will perform in entirety for the first time in January. It consists of:
1. Handel Chaconne in G major HWV 435
2. Bach Toccata and Fugue in G minor BWV 915
3. Bach/Petri Sheep may Safely Graze
4. Liszt Sonetto del Patrarch nos. 104, 123
5. Rachmaninoff Sonata no. 2
I am always looking for ways to find themes for concert programs that can include Baroque music, mostly because I love Bach.
One of my students recently turned me on to TB, so I have started a 14-day trail to see what the hype is about! Looking forward to sharing and meeting people here.

Hello, I am from St. Louis, Missouri. My favorite food from here is Provel cheese. It is a combination of Provolone, Swiss and Cheddar cheeses. It is especially tasty on Imo's Pizza! I am working on becoming more knowledgeable regarding composers and their works for piano. My expectations for this community have been met and exceeded! I wanted to learn from Dominic and the other presenters and participants. And I have learned SO much! I am grateful! I enjoy the LIVE streams immensely! The depth and breadth of the programs surpasses my expectations - every time! Thank you!
