Welcome to the tonebase Piano Community!
Hey everyone - this is Dominic from tonebase !
As the lead of tonebase PIANO it's such a pleasure to welcome you to the tonebase community. We would love to get to know you! Please introduce yourself in a post below with the following format:
- Where are you from and what's your favorite food from there? ;)
- What are you currently working on?
- What are you hoping to get out of this community?
I'll go first:
- I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and you better believe that I love my barbecue! It is hard to pick my favorite food between ribs, brisket, or a beautiful grilled steak, but if I have to decide...nothing beats a juicy, fall-off-the-bone rack of baby back ribs!
- Currently working on some old favorites of mine by Carl Vine (Piano Sonata No.1), Beethoven (Piano Concerto No.4) and Scriabin (Fantasy op.28) but also adding some great repertoire by H. Leslie Adams (Etude in A-flat minor Book 2), Laura Kaminsky (Alluvion), and Clara Schumann (Romanze in A minor Op.21 no.1)!
- I am hoping to getting to know and helping all of you achieve your musical and artistic goals. Let's have some fun and get to work!
Now over to you (after some participation from our tonebase team members!)

Hi Everyone!
Iām Wendy, Iām from California, and my favorite food is tree-ripened stone fruit. Yes, Iām from the Central Valley.
Iām trying to get my old pieces back into shape, mostly Chopin, and learning Beethoven Sonata No 26.
I joined to base because of a video with Ben Laude and Seymour Bernstein talking about playing Chopin and the āhairpinsā. My brain exploded! I knew I needed to be here and learn.
Thank you

Hi Wendy! I saw that video about hairpins. I'm also engaged in bringing some of my old pieces back into shape. And also want to learn some new pieces. Tomorrow there is a great event, a 2nd prize pianist at Chopin's Competition will be listening to 3 pianists. I think it's going to be very good. See you in Tonebase Wendy.

Hi everyone , this is well * eee * , 15 y old
I am from India , and if we speak about favourite food , honestly speaking its too hard to decide so i deciding my fav food is not something i would like .
Currently working on Chopin etude 25-6 and 10-12 , its quite a challenge since i am a self taught pianist who is learning from 3 years but i recently completed 10-12 ( still working on the phrasing ) but joined Tonebase after getting injured from 25-6 the nightmare of many pianists , i found the " Taubman " method on Tonebase which has helped me lot with my technique so far and i hope to complete all etudes in the next 5 years .
I am hoping to improve both my technique and phrasing in Tonebase , so far its pretty good and i have improved a lot even though its just my first day . Getting a masterclass improved my playing by a lot and sped it up too . I want to get good technique and learn a little bit more about the composers i havent looked much at yet like Mozart , Gershwin , Rach and Bach

Hi all, pleasure to join the community; here is my intro:
- I grew up in Cairo Egypt but have since lived in Germany, Florida, Chicago, Walnut Creek, CA and currently in Toronto Canada. Fav food is a really tough one! I could say pizza even though thats a little boring :) so how about anything Japanese!!
- I've been learning for about 10 years so started pretty late; I'm afraid I skipped over some of the foundational techniques etc and dove into harder pieces. Right now Im working on Chopin Waltz l'adieu and Nocturne Op 9 No 1. I've fallen in love with Chopin :)
- Hoping to get encouragement from others, learning about and sharing common challenges and hopefully making some new friends (local and remote!)

What are you hoping to get out of this community?Hello folks! I've been here on Tonebase for a couple of months, but just built up the courage to introduce myself on this forum so here goes nothing xD
My name is Gabriel, aind I'm from Brazil. I was raised in CaetitƩ, a small town in the state of Bahia, and got my Music college degree in the Federal University of Bahia, in Salvador. As a good baiano, I can't live without acarajƩ, best food ever <3
Currently working on Chopin's Ballade n. 3, Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody n 2 (with Cortot's cadenza. I love that one, so yummy) and Beethoven's 2nd piano concerto. Slow and steady, with some good progress and some good suffering, also.I hope to learn here how to be a better musician, artist and human being. In fact, to become a pianist again, as life and its little twists and turns made me stray from the artist's path, and now I work as a bank clerk in the Bank of Brazil, city of Cafarnaum, also in the state of Bahia. I guess I've been through almost the entire the state now xD. Who knows if I'm ever going to live as a professional musician again? I hope it can happen soon, as I never liked banks too much (hope my employers don't check the Tonebase forums too often hahaha)...
Looking forward to share some of my practice sessions and troubles here on the forums. Cheers from Brazil! -
Hi,I am from Johannesburg, SA and born here in a wonderful country rich in heritage and diversity.
My favorite food would be a chicken breyani made with love and care.It takes hours of preparation and is served with papadums, a special rice crisp, tomato and chilli salsa and a creamy dip.
You enjoy it best by hand ,believe it or not.
A tasty desert tops it off.
I am new to formal piano studies but not new to music.
My goal is to learn to play proficiently and learn a repertoire of classical music as well as blues and jazz .
I look forward to my journey here.

Hi. I am from Norfolk in the UK. Iām vegan so I only eat vegetables and beans! I started piano like many others at the beginning of Covid lockdown. I am mostly self taught, Iāve tried a few teachers but couldnāt find any good local teachers. Iāve just joined tonebase but not entirely sure where to start so Iām randomly have started a technique course and a theory course. Any tips on what tonebase path to follow would be helpful as itās a bit overwhelmingā¦ there is so much and a lot of it is more advanced than me. Iām intermediate. Based on uk grades I guess around 4-5.

Hi,
My name is Alex and I'm from Warrington, United Kingdom. Been playing piano for around 13 years. My favourite food is Steak but I'm also a big fan of Chinese and Indian cuisine!
I'm currently working on Mozart sonatas K330 (C Major) and K333 (Bb Major). I have also been working on Schumann's 'Kreisleriana' recently as well which is pretty tough.
I'm hoping to improve my technical foundation, expand my repertoire, improve sightreading and just gain better musicianship overall. Looking forward to getting started!
