ABOUT TONEBASE COMMUNITY CONCERTS:

These events are NOT live-streamed OR recorded, but are private zoom meetings where tonebase members can share their hard work and perform for each other!

These concerts can be played LIVE, or if you can't attend, you can submit a recording!

This is a GENEROUS and SUPPORTIVE space.

Performing is one of the best ways to push yourself, and really evaluate the work/progress you have made!

Repertoire is open to any piece!

Memorization is NOT required.

You can play select movements, or even sections of pieces! No need to perform a complete work!

Playing the piano is fun, but sharing your music with others is one of life's great joys. Join in on the fun and cheer each other on!

FOR OPTIMIZING YOUR ZOOM SETTINGS PLEASE SEE THE SHORT VIDEOS BELOW!

Dominic Cheli Thanks for all the hosting today! I was sad to miss a bunch of the recital today. Will there be a link to see everyone’s performance?

Dominic Cheli I agree with Judy Kuan . I would not have performed live yesterday if it were going to be recorded. It's not about the wonderfully supportive community, but more that if I'm going to have something that will be posted and available for all posterity I would rather have a video that is as close to my best as possible.

    • Michelle R Judy Kuan This is great to know!

I think we will stick with NOT recording because there are plenty other events on tonebase recorded and archived. Thanks for this valuable feedback!

Dominic Cheli Thanks! I didn’t know the policy, but now that you explain, it makes a lot of sense to not record it. So, no pressure there. There are a lot of submitted recordings we can see, regardless. Fingers crossed next time I’ll be able to stay for the whole thing, and maybe even play live. (Big kudos to everyone that played live btw! It takes real bravery.)

    • Dominic Cheli I also agree with Judy and Michelle on this. It has been great to be able to perform for the community concert, though the pieces I have chosen to play so far have all been short pieces to help me deal with the anxiety in small bit at a time. If it was recorded then I would feel the pressure to deliver even more ... and the one time I wrecked up the performance really left me shaken for a few days after so I would really not want to see it immortalised through recording 😅
