Week 4 - The Whole Piece: Time to Share!
Hey everyone! 🎹
Final week of the Bach C minor Challenge! Wherever you are in the piece (the Prelude, part of the Fugue, or the whole thing), you've put in four weeks of real work, and that's worth celebrating.
For those finishing the Fugue, this week's suggested focus is Sections 12–14:
- Section 12, Recapitulation & Coda (bars 20–31): hand redistribution, light thumbs, lift markings and ties, the drama in the bass line, and the coda.
- Section 13, Fugue Consolidation: a full Fugue playthrough.
- Section 14, The Full Piece: put the Prelude and Fugue together, and watch a performance video for inspiration.

🎥 Time to share!
Share your recording as a reply in this thread by Sunday, Nov 1 to be featured in the Watch Party on Monday, Nov 2 at 11am PT.
It can be the Prelude, the Fugue, a single section, or the whole piece. Rough edges are welcome. This is about sharing where you got to, not perfection.
Live tomorrow: Tuesday, Oct 27, 11am PT, Deep Dive on the C minor Prelude and Fugue with me. Bring your last questions before you share!
Question for the week: if you could add one step to the Track, what would it be?

Here is my little "work in progress" recording for this challenge. I had fun learning this!

Hello everyone,
Thank you to Dominic and Tonebase team for initiating this 4 weeks Bach Challenge on the guided tracks.
I started learning the notes shortly after the track was released.
Honestly I would not have been able to complete the entire Fugue by myself if not for the details provided in the guided tracks (especially the fingerings, voicing gym and basic understanding of the fugue structure). The Challenge has pushed me to learn the piece within a deadline. The development section on the Fugue was particularly a challenge for me. Still plenty of things to improve.
But I am glad I have completed my first Bach Prelude and Fugue. So here's my video….

Thanks to everyone who has contributed, asked the questions, shared their knowledge and recordings in the forum over the last few weeks.
Since the watch party is at 2am here, I will skip it. But will catch up with the recording later.
Have fun !

Hi P&F Team! Well, better late than never…for those of you who didn’t know, I had a serious accident at my gym on October 3. I had a complete dislocation of my hip with bone fragments and a severely broken foot. After 3 surgeries, I got home a couple of weeks ago but needed to keep my leg elevated 24/7 until yesterday. I literally watched the lessons just this week. I had played around with this piece a few years ago for several weeks but never properly learned it. So, now that I got my cast removed yesterday, I practiced this and here’s a VERY rough recording.

PS: I’m not allowed to put any weight on my right leg…so no pedal and no driving for at least 3-4 more weeks. Chopin and Rachmaninoff are going to sound very strange!
