Is collaborative piano OK? If so, my wife (Laurie, aka Tootles) on clarinet, accompanied by me on piano, playing Canzonetta op 19 by Gabriel Pierne. About 5 minutes. We will do a youtube video, since we have never attempted playing clarinet/piano via zoom - that might be a challenge!

It's a beautiful piece, difficult for both of us. OK, difficult for me anyway...

Sam Smith Here is our video - Enjoy!

A little background - Pierne was a french composer, late 19th, early 20th centuries. The Canzonetta was composed in 1888. He was also a conductor, and conducted the world premier of Stravinsky's Firebird ballet!

I can do Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag." Or I can do Chopin's Nocturne in F Minor (Op. 55, No. 1) if ragtime isn't right for the concert's general feel/theme.

  • Yihan will play Chopin Barcarolle Op. 60 again, now that he improves.  He might have time to play live, but in case, we just send a recorded one.

  • I'd like to attend and play Intermezzo in A major Op. 118 No. 2 by Johannes Brahms. I'm not yet sure if I'll be able to play live or if I'll be submiting a recording, but we'll see. :)

I would like to submit a recording of Mendelssohn's Op 14, Rondo Capriccioso. I won't be ready to perform it live, but would love to (finally) polish it up and start sharing it. Thanks!

  • Hi! I would love to try out a live performance of Sibelius Impromptu No.6 in E Major ❤️ I haven’t played the piano for an audience in 30 years so this will be interesting to see if my performance anxiety can handle it lol!

  • I'm hoping to submit poulenc's first 2 of the 3 novelettes. I was going to submit the 3rd novelette for the April new piece challenge but things got in the way... so I'm not ready to share no.3 just yet.

  • I am always not available on Saturdays. Fortunately the concert can have pre-re orded video now (since when? 😁

If there are too many people in May, then please put me in June concert. I'll submit a recording of a short but lovely piece, Intermezzo No. 1 by M. Ponce.

Heng-Pin Chen Dear Heng-Pin, I am glad to hear that you will be perform this piece by Ponce, a very under rated composer IMO.  i have a beautiful recording of Ponce's music by pianist David Witten on Marco Polo records.  He records an "Intermezzo" there, I'm not sure it is the same one as the one you are referring to, but it is very beautiful, and something I hope to assay someday myself.  I hope you will  share a recording of your performance. I' am trying to see whether I have anything ready for this month's concert, but I'm not yet sure...

If everything is alright, I'll submit a video - Burgmuller, op.100 #15 Ballade

    • Elena_Ms I don’t think I have ever heard anything by Burgmüller, even though I know he has been a pillar of German piano pedagogy since time immemorial. Looking forward!

Alexander Weymann It will be my very first recording as "to play in front of the audience". I'm visibly shaking )))

    • Elena_Ms I can tell you from happy experience that you couldn’t POSSIBLY find a kinder and more supportive audience than this community. You’ve chosen the perfect venue for your first performance in front of listeners! 🙂

  • I’d like to play, either Schumann’s Kinderszenen (about 15min) if there’s time or Brahms’ Ballade opus 10 no. 2 (about 5 minutes). Thank you.

  • Hi all, I would have loved to attend this, but a combination of work and unavailability on the concert date have conspired against it. Hopefully will be in attendance for the next one :) Derek

The existence of the recital inspired me to record!  My son might play something too.  Here's my contribution (Debussy Arabesque 1).  Looking forward to listening to all of you!

    • Khaled I am sorry, but Beethoven Op 27 in E minor? Are you referring to Op 27 No 1 or Op 27 No 2?  Or maybe No 27 (which is Op  90) is the one you referred to? Please correct me is I am wrong. Thank you!
