Large Jumps in Traumes-Wirren
I am attempting to learn the Schumann Fantasiestucke Op. 12. In Traumes-Wirren m103-m114 there's a sequence of 2-octave jumps in the right hand from F4 - F6, with the F6 being the first note in a sforzando pattern. I am having trouble getting these jumps accurately at ~100bpm. Does anyone have any tips? I find that I am frequently overreaching and hitting both F6 and G6 simultaneously.

I found this to be a challenging piece! (And I'm going on memory here, without the score in front of me, so take that under advisement.)
My teacher and I worked slowly on the rotation of the hand, so the leap is accomplished with a fluid motion, and not just a jerking back and forth of the arm. Starting with a relaxed hand on the 16th note preceding the F4, the hand rotates to the right, then comes down on the F4 while rotating to the left, and then is "thrown" up to the F6 while rotating to the left.
Also, I try and think of the F4 as being the origin of the cluster. Throughout the whole piece I think of the 4th note in the 16th cluster as being the origin note. So I would practice it as three notes, pause, then the 4th note jumping up to the next three notes, pause, etc. It helped me to think of it like this.
I also practiced this part (and all the jumps) very slowly and without opening my hand. Basically getting used to using arm movement to accomplish the laps. That helped a lot, too.
I hope that helps, and good luck!
