Also: It would really be appreciated if all lesson exercises/scores & diagrams discussed/shown in video are included in workbooks - the latter do not always have all materials cited in lesson e.g. all diagrams, score excerpts. E.g.  Circle of Fifths lesson. Mozart 's Nachmusik is a major key exercise without score included, but score is shown for following minor (Paganini), and the connections between circle of fifths diagram also not listed.

Also, for Piano 101, it says there is a workbook but none can be accessed/seen.

Like others, subtitles would further add accessibility for those of us with hearing issues or other visual learners wanting a printable reference to practice from.

Tonebase has helped my learning tremendously- and fills in gaps my teacher can't offer - thank you for all you do. Excited too about Music offering!

Videos/courses will sometimes get stuck on a particular section and keep repeating the same section rather than moving onto the next lesson. For example, the Body and Finger Warm-Up course, my lesson has been stuck at the Daily Sitting Routine video "Step 6b". When that section's done, the same section will load and play again. Even when I pull up the syllabus and click on another section within the same course, it won't play. This isn't the first time this has happened.

I would like to see more piano selections demonstrated by the instructors with flowing accompanying notes at the bottom.

It would be great to learn Rialto Ripples by Gershwin from Jeffrey Biegel or other instructors?
I am having difficulty playing this in technical retention and relaxation and rag style. 馃槉

  • It鈥檚 a good platform. But it needs more repertoire breakdowns - outside of Chopin and a few other composers, there鈥檚 just a handful of pieces.

    • Angela Turner I agree. Composers that could particularly do with some more repertoire courses are Schubert and Brahms. Also, how about Fanny Henschel, Louise Farrenc and Mel Bonis, great composers neglected mainly because of their gender?

    I agree with Angela.
I鈥檇 like to see more in Handel repertoires such as Haydn, Kuhlau, Diabelli, Ginastera, Granados, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Alveniz , Liszt, Gershwin and many more 馃槉

  • Dear TB,

What is the significance of the quotations that pop up when you log on to the website? Is it just for speed-reading tests? They stay up for a couple of seconds and then they are gone, leaving no time for the reader to grasp their meanings.

Below are a couple of things I'd like to see implemented on the Practice Diary (assuming that they're not already there and I just haven't found them).   I have contemplated using it but have not done so yet, because I think it might be a little inefficient and difficult to navigate around, one several entries get posted. Here's what might encourage me to utilize it:

    1.  the ability to bookmark an entry, so as to be able to refer to it on other ToneBase pages.  For example maybe I'd want to post a mistake-filled early version of a piece and then when discussing the piece on another thread, be able to send someone a quick link to my version in the Practice Diary as an illustration of a problem, etc.

    2. I'd like to see those little triangles implemented where people could expand or collapse a discussion under a single topic.  For example take a specific piece, make it a topic, and then post entries of problems and solutions encountered along the way.  Without being able to hide the related postings, a single piece could easily fill up many screens with verbiage (at least in my case!), making it difficult for readers and User alike to navigate around the diary to find references to anything else other than the latest postings.

I don't have any 'complaints' about ToneBase, it's been amazing to me. But fine-tuning some things like the above might encourage me to use it even more.  Thanks for a great site!
