  • Hey guys!

Obviously I enjoy tonebase, but there are always things to improve.

Some things that I had wanted fixed and were resolved!

    1. We have our workbook library uploaded here

    https://campaigns.tonebase.co/piano/piano-workbook-anthology

    2. If you scroll down on the "home" page, you can see "community highlights" that are going on currently

What are some things that I want to improve on tonebase?

I want a search bar that is clearly visible! We are currently working on that.

Right now, searching for something must be done on the "library" page which isn't always so obvious.

Of course I also want to have more artists on the platform teaching wonderful repertoire - always a work in progress :)

    • Dominic Cheli I completely agree. The search bar should be visible on every page, normally on the top right, or include it in the left menu panel.

And yes, more artists teaching different repertoire, please.

Also, maybe include a lesson on piano duets too. Although I enjoyed your lecture on the Schubert Fantasie in F minor (which I am working on right now), it would have been helpful to have two pianists working on it together, perhaps explaining about sound balance, pedaling (primo or secondo?), choreography of hands (some notes overlap), etc.

Dominic, I would love to see reviews of the classes, not so much for rating but to get comments on content and usefulness. Thanks!

It would be wonderful to add more teaching tutorials on various repertoires specifically what to focus on, how to teach etc. and also add C.C would be nice.

  • Just more than a couple of hours notice for the live events.   I've been disappointed to miss some because of prior commitments which I would have changed if I had known on time.   Thanks!

Do something about the truly awful (and very amateur) dark background.

for some reason when I want to continue videos where I paused, it never continues at the right timestamp when I open it again or remembers what lessons I have finished or not

  • Tonebase is pretty much amazing.  I wish I had more time to use it. The only thing I would hope for is that because I am getting to the piano irradicably these days, I would like to be able to reference things I have used before. For example, I am working "forever" it seems on Bach Prelude in C Major. Because I will miss over a month and then get to it for maybe a few days and then miss a big chunk of time I miss stuff. Then, for example, I start your module on arpeggios. I've never formally learned arpeggios. So, maybe 2 months ago I started them. Haven't been back. But now, I want to review in conjunction with working on the Bach because  I want it to sound smoother and I thin your arpeggio module can help. But I can't access the part I have completed. Can that be available, as needed? Thanks.

Linda Clover - if you go to My Content, you can see all the courses you have viewed previously. At least for me, this (very helpful) list also includes courses that I have completed. Just select the course you are interested in, and click "Play" for the module you want to see.

Hi, I'm currently working on repertoire from Royal Conservatory Music Level 4, and it appears much of the  repertoire content is geared to more advanced users than my level. I suspect most subscribers are more advanced than I but I'd love more content suited for the early intermediate/late beginner.

There is so much to love about Tonebase and thank you for all the great content!  If there were one thing I'd change, it'd be making the personal lesson plans a little more specific (maybe this isn't possible because of the sheer numbers of people subscribing).  As an example, part of my given plan is to learn the first movement of a difficult piano concerto, but I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind it and how it would improve my specific weaknesses.

P.S.  I'm with Janet; the dark background doesn't look great and it also makes the text hard to read.

    • Marianne Agreed.  It's not very eco-friendly for those who want to print.

I would like the user interface significantly improved. Also, it would be nice to have regimented curricula rather than just a mass of videos from which to choose.

You鈥檝e made great strides in the last few updates for Apple devices and the grouping of data.

The group of artists on here already are unbelievable, but we absolutely need Argerich! & more Hamelin 馃檶

I would like instant subtitles to be available on videos for language choices in the Tonebase app.

  • Hey -  I think it would be great to see more composition resources.  For example -  orchestration/scoring tips from the studio teachers.  Or survey of the vocal types.  I really liked the figured base sessions and would love more hands on theory like that.

I鈥檓 on the piano track and really like things like Bergman鈥檚 Prokofiev classes.

thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback!

Could we get rid of the black background?  In my professional activities in product management, we were always told by our ad agencies to NEVER use black background with white typeface in written materials/ads because research had shown that it鈥檚 tough for the customer to read quickly.

  • Tone base is really amazing to meet our needs already. The recent inaugural summer camp is so reasonable for everyone, I wish i could attend, but we have already made our summer plans, hopefully it will be repeated. I realize it would be convenient for it to be held on the East coast for global members. I am wondering whether you could have a mini camp here in California. I know from my strings friends they go to The Claremont colleges for summer chamber workshop for a weekend.  Thanks for a Great job Dominic.

I love Piano Tonebase.  I鈥檓 check in with it daily.  I wish that ALLpiano class/sessions showing or demonstrating something would have an overhead shot, so that you can watch how the hands work.  On those classes, lesson sessions that do have an overhead camera to show what鈥檚 going on, I learn tons.
