As a premium member, I’ve reached out to your customer service at least five times and haven’t received a single response. Yes, I’ve checked my spam folder. This is extremely disappointing and unacceptable for a company that markets itself as a premium service.

It’s clear from other members’ experiences that I’m not the only one struggling to get support. You simply cannot run a business without a reliable way to respond to your customers.

Speaking as someone who works in product, I’d strongly suggest implementing a third-party customer support solution. For example, Zendesk, Help Scout, or even Zapier integrations can ensure that customer inquiries are tracked and responded to systematically. These tools can help your team track communication and address customer service issues.

I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously and make improving customer support a top priority.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for sharing your feedback and we apologize for the frustration. In the future, please ensure you are emailing us at team@tonebase.co and not tonebase.com to avoid any delay in responses. We use Freshdesk to organize and resolve tickets, so when your message is sent it creates one for you. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any other issues to team@tonebase.co or ashley@tonebase.co

      Cheers!

For me the most important three things would be:

    * Some obvious place for the community to request pieces for which to add courses or other resources.  Perhaps something where the community could also vote or otherwise show their support to suggestions. Do not hide this somewhere in the discussion forums. Personally I find that the content with regard to repertoire pieces is stagnating and not much gets added.

    * Make the discussion forums clearer and more organized, in comparison to many other forum or discussion board sites they look messy, hard to navigate and rather badly implemented. Just take a look at a few of these other sites and you will see how much more convenient it is for users to navigate discussions if you can get a more tabular overview of topics, can get a nice list of threads with more active ones first, can have search functions that allow to find topics you or another user commented in, search topic titles or dates etc.

    * Offline access: there are many situations still, e.g. travelling in a train or plane where it would be great to be able to watch the conentent without internet access. Also in situation where access speed is slow, the offline access could prevent interruptions.

I think that generally ToneBase tries to develop new offerings that require additional payments instead of taking care of those who have lifetime access and do not see any new courses. The development of courses for intermediate piano players definitely need more attention.

Fully agree and that is definitely something which will prevent me from recommending ToneBase to others.

Could you help me understand what offerings are aimed at subscription users versus lifetime users?

I would think we would all be equal once we were on the platform.

I did the math and paid for a lifetime subscription and hope to be here for many years.

I certainly see the need for more lessons for intermediate players.

I believe Tonebase has 3 plans: Basic, which has limited access to live events, pathways/practice plans, and courses; Premium, which seems to be the most common plan, with unlimited access to live events, pathways, and courses; and Premium+, which has the same features as Premium, with the addition of a coach who provides personalized feedback and practice plans.

I think that all 3 plans are all available with monthly, yearly, and lifetime payment schedules. The features are the same regardless of which payment plan one uses.

I originally had the monthly Premium subscription but switched to lifetime as part of a bundle with Tonebase Premium+.

Well, now I’m totally confused about which lifetime plan I paid for, lol. How do I find out?

      It must not be Premium.

Do you have access to all the courses, the live events, and the AI pathways?

To check which subscription you have, click "Account" in the sidebar. It should show a pop-up menu.

Click "Manage Subscriptions" and scroll down. You should be able to see your active subscriptions.

      Hopefully this helps!

I checked the subscription and it says Piano Lifetime Subscription. It does not include Premium+, so I think it is just Premium. It has access to all of the things you mentioned. I don’t think I need personalized coaching as I have a private teacher.

I just checked, and the Lifetime subscription is only Premium and Premium+, so you do have Premium.

Larry, the basic Lifetime subscription just gives you the same basic subscription, year after year. My problem with Tonebase is that they are focusing on all the new, premium and paid offerings. There is practically nothing new for lifetime "basic" members apart from Live Streams.

       Maybe I am missing something.

      What are the Premium+ offerings?

Is it more than coaching and critiquing? I already pay a private teacher, I don’t see the need for paying more for those things.

I don’t see my subscription described anywhere as Basic, I think it’s Premium, but, I find the whole model too confusing.

Are you saying that some lessons are only shown to the Premium+ members?

Hi Larry. I had subscribed for Premium+ for a while. Premium+ offers coaching in addition to the Premium features. That's the only difference. I suppose it could be big difference to some, but the teaching model didn't work out for me, so I cancelled it. Went back to private lessons, which works better for me.

Premium+ and Premium members have access to the same features, except for coaching.

Larry, I did not see your posting (another problem of Tonebase).

I believe that others answered your question very well. If you have private lessons you do not need Premium option.

You may look at ArtistWorks (Zachary Deak) if you want good reviews

OK, the discussion forums are even worse than I realized initially: apparently, if you want to post a topic and moderators decide against it, that carefully written post does not show up anywhere on your own page and you get no feedback whatsoever why it has not been posted.

This is extremely user-unfriendly and, quite frankly, extremely impolite towards users.
Also, my impression is that this feedback thread here is more for allowing users to vent their frustration than actually getting taken seriously by tonebase, I cannot really see any constructive responses from their side to suggestions or actual improvements based on user feedback.

I also just noticed that apparently there is an app, but only for Apple users (a search on play.google.com comes up empty for me)???
I have no idea if the app actually adds anything to what is available via the web, but if it does, I find it quite unfriendly to lock out all users who avoid the vendor lock in, high prices and unacceptable business practices of the Apple company.

I got a lifetime membership because of my initial enthusiasm about this, but I have to admit I am getting a increasingly disillusioned and frustrated.

they transitioned to a webapp rather than a Google play app a few months ago so you're not missing out on anything on that front.

Thanks! Was just wondering if my complaints about how much the web app and web interface to the forums is lacking features maybe does not apply to the app. Ah well ...

    So here is my take:

I have been using the platform for almost a year now and when I first started using it, there was a great course on a piece I was practicing. Now that I am almost finished with said piece, I have made a selection of pieces I want to practice next (all of which are fairly well known pieces, with lots of information and practice tips online), but there are no courses on Tonebase for any of them. In general, there is not a tremendous quantity of lessons on pieces on the platform (the most popular ones are understandably prioritized), but I have difficulty finding materials to help me in my practice right now and as far as I can recall, there have not been many courses added in the past year. This makes me consider, if there is a point in continuing my subscription for the next year.

I am now ignoring all the live events because being in Australia or South East Asia, whenever a live event takes place, it is always in the middle of the night.  I can only watch the replay if it is available.  Setting a time that suits all regions will take some organizing, I understand that.  But I simply cannot get the full benefits of being a paid customer.

Hi! I am really enthusiast about tonebase and it's really motivating me every day! As an Italian "solo player" withouth a teacher i would like to see:

Subtitles! Every teacher has his own accent and sometimes Is hard for me to understand everything!

More level repertoire suggestions! I am currently between level 5 and level 6 and would like to see more suggestions (more scarlatti sonatas, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Haydn's movements, Chopin waltzes and nocturnes!)
