Practicing This Week--Getting Things Together Before Winter Quarter

Hello all,

I am a master's student in piano at the University of Oregon. I figured I would finally get Tonebase so I can use it both for myself and my students this year. Here is what I am practicing this week:

Warm up (about 30 minutes)--all scales and arpeggios, isolated passages from Chopin Etudes Op. 10 No. 1, 4, and 12, improvisation, running through old pieces.

Collaborative Work (1-2 hours)--Debussy Cello Sonata (3rd movement), Mozart G minor Quartet (3rd movement), Saint-Saens Clarinet Sonata (4th movement), Amy Beach Piano Concerto (1st movement, orchestra part), Webern 4 Pieces for Piano and Violin (2nd movement).

Solo Work (1-2 hours)--Ravel Piano Concerto in G (2nd and 3rd movement), whatever solo pieces I have time and energy for (Beethoven Sonata Op. 110, Rhapsody in Blue for solo piano, Bach Prelude and Fugue in F minor (Bk. 1). I am hoping that next week I will have less pressure to get my collaborative stuff learned so I can focus on the solo pieces. This year, I want to memorize 3 hours of solo piano music and 3 concertos (including Ravel), but I'm not sure if that will happen with all the collaborative stuff I have going on!

  • Exciting! How wonderful to have all that collaborative work. Good luck with your goals this year! They do have some wonderful classes on Tonebase--it's hard to know where to start.
