Hey everyone!
Figured I would ask this popular question, since it is always interesting to hear what people are listening to and attending!
I will start:
Technically the last concert I went to was the tonebase community concert! Was so awesome to hear and see all of the talented members of our community playing - can't wait for next month's Springtime Recital!
You can still sign up, via the forums!
But more recently I went to see the Sequoia Symphony perform a concert consisting of

Price | Piano Concerto in One Movement
Beethoven | Symphony No. 3the pianist was Joshua Mhoon, conductor was Bruce Kiesling, and the concert was fantastic!
I haven't heard Beethoven's 3rd symphony in a while, so it was great to imagine how revolutionary it was for its time: the offbeats, syncopations, and dissonances!

I recently saw Mikhail Voskresensky perform the most delightful solo piano concert. It was a wonderful program, and so inspiring to see someone who is nearly 90 years old performing virtuosic pieces with such heart and energy!

Just saw Yunchan Lim play Rach 2 last night with London Symphony Orchestra in Orange County, CA. Encore was Liszt Petrarch Sonnet 104. It was an amazing experience! It was a school night so I couldn’t stay for the second half- Mahler 1.

Angela Hewitt at Melbourne Recital Centre playing Mozart, Bach, Handel Chaconne, Brahms Variations on a theme by Handel. So composed and gracious. She must have watched your workshop on trills Dominic

I just heard the Dover Quartet at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall in Boston. An amazing program: Dvořak String Quartet No. 12 in F, Op. 96 (“American”), Schumann String Quartet No. 1 in A minor, Op. 41, and Tchaikovsky’s Quartet No. 1 in D, Op. 11. Reviewers love describing them as sonorous and I have to agree. A rich, cohesive, and exciting sound in a fantastic, intimate setting.

Eric my absolute favorite string quartet ensemble!!! Their recordings of the Beethoven string quartets are, in my opinion, absolutely peerless in their clarity, beauty, and musicality.

Bartok's Duke Bluebeard's Castle performed by the Houston Symphony Orchestra under conductor Juraj Valcuha. Baritone Gabor Bretz and Soprano Ekaterina Gubanova.
I had never heard this piece before. It was different. Dark.

I went to hear my local Monterey Symphony last weekend in a spectacular concert that included Eternal Rhythm by Avner Dorman. Cynthia Yea, the principal percussionist with the Chicago Symphony, was a last minute sub and she was sensational! The program also included Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question and Brahms Symphony No. 1.

Lisa Spector what an amazing program! Avner Dorman’s Second Piano Sonata has always been a major bucket list item for me to learn and play.

Marietta Petkova was born in Bulgaria. She studied Piano in Vienna and Amsterdam.
She has a wonderful interaction with the public and plays the piano like a goddess!

Yuja Wang and Vikingur Olaffson at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Fantastic two-piano program.

I heard the Brentano Quartet play all of the Haydn Opus 33 string quartets at Carnegie Hall. A fantastic concert that made me want to hear more string quartet music.

It's been too long since I've been to a concert (I have no excuse, living in NYC), but I have tickets to 3 in the upcoming week that I can't wait to see! One of them is a chamber music concert featuring harp & violin arrangements of piano masterpieces like Chopin's Ballade 1

Nikolai Lugansky at the Kennedy Center a few weeks ago. Absolutely fantastic. Mendelssohn, Wagner for the main program with some Chopin and Rachmaninoff encores.

A few weeks ago saw Seong-Jin Cho performing the complete piano works of Ravel. It was great! My 8 year old son joined me and single handedly brought down the average age of the audience at Boston Symphony Hall.

Mike wow! I have not had the chance yet to attend any of his live performances of the Complete Ravel, but I recently got his 2-CD album of it and it’s phenomenal. Almost as good as Chamayou’s recording, and in some pieces even better.
