Week THREE: Share your love! (Watch Party is next week!)

Hello and welcome to the WEEK THREE Main Thread for this challenge! 馃ぉ

Alright everyone - this is the thread where we'll all be posting our daily updates.

Make sure you've read the rules before replying (<- click)

Twice a week between February 6 - 13 I hope to be reading your daily updates in this very thread right here!

Here is this week's assignment!

Because the WATCH PARTY is next week, February 14th at 11am PT let's do the following this week!

1. OVERALL GOAL: Record your piece!

2. OPTIONAL: say a few words about why you choose your piece, and what you love so much about it BEFORE or AFTER you play! (Before is nice, because then we can listen with a guided imagination through your words!) You can submit two videos (one of your words and one of the music) I will then put them together into ONE video.

3. OPTIONAL: Record your piece at least TWICE! Why? Because we want you to submit your favorite recording, and tell us why you choose the one that you did. Was it because of technical reasons? Musical ones? It is important to practice evaluating your work through words!

  • What I love about this piece? Bach鈥檚 music always manages to lift me up into another state of mind, where beauty and clarity fill the hearts of mankind, where solutions are possible and prayers get heard.

Andrea Buckland Very beautiful Bach, with that special serenity and depth which this music contains. You communicate them with such musical personality. Bravo, Andrea!

    • Andrea Buckland Yes, you do play this in an uplifting way Andrea! I love G minor but I think you would make any piece by Bach sound just as wonderful. It's as if you were born to play Bach!

Andrea Buckland I love the way you bring nuance and emotion into this very intellectual and complicated fugue.

  • Hi everyone,

Here is my final version of the Chopin Prelude No.13 in F sharp. I think this short piece represents a statement of affection from Chopin (possibly to George Sand or maybe just as piece in bel canto style). I have enjoyed preparing for this challenge and I think I have learned a little more about this work. Best wishes

    Derek

  • Managed to memorize the piece (Beethoven鈥檚 Path茅tique Second Movement) for the final post (thanks to the inspiration of Juan Carlos Olite ).
What do I love about this movement? The warmth and richness of the timeless melody, the many layers, as well as the sweet and dark moments. On a personal level, it is nostalgic and brings back happy memories.
