Week 1: Status check! (also pick your piece!)

Hello and welcome to the WEEK ONE Main Thread for this challenge! 馃ぉ

Alright everyone - this is the thread where we'll all be posting our daily updates.

Make sure you've read the rules before replying (<- click)

Twice a week between January 23 - 30 I hope to be reading your daily updates in this very thread right here!

Here is this week's assignment!

1. Pick your piece!

2. If a new piece, post your sight-reading of it (never hurts to practice this valuable skill!) If it is an old piece, let's try and dust it off, and play through what we can, to evaluate its current condition. Let us know what your "piece status" is!

3. Optional: Tell us WHY you picked this piece that you love so much!

  • Hello TB friends!

For this challenge about love I had to go for Chopin, and one of my favorite pieces that I've been wanting to play, the nocturne in D-flat major Op 27 nr 2.

Still a long way to go, but here is the first half. Just getting started :)

Sindre Skarelven you are wise to take care of your back pain. I too have suffered from this life-altering problem for years.  Yesterday I made the mistake of experimenting with rotating my torso rapidly to reach different parts of the keyboard, and today I鈥檓 paying the price. I hope you recover soon.

I have noted with admiration that your posture always seems perfect when you play, something that I need to work on. I鈥檝e wondered if posture when playing is an issue that others have too.

Sindre Skarelven It sounds like you have put in a LOT of work already!  Great job.  So glad your back is starting to feel better, too.

    1. For the last few weeks I found myself waking up every morning with the g-minor Prelude or Fugue of Bach WTC 1 in my mind. So I have decided to learn those. I truly love these pieces and I鈥榤 happy to share my progress for the challenge. Here the Fugue - not purrfect , still plenty to work on - but at least there is a cat in the video 馃槀馃槀.

Andrea Buckland Isn't it wonderful to wake up with a Bach fugue on you mind? Do your fingers twitch?

Furry critters are an important component of all Tonebase videos.
