General Live Stream Suggestions! (Megathread)

Hi everyone!

This is Dominic, head of piano live at tonebase!

Let's use this thread as a place for any general live stream suggestions you might have that don't warrant an entirely new thread.

Examples may include:

  • topics we should cover in future live streams
  • new live stream format ideas
  • people we should try to bring on as guests
  • anything else you would like to see on tonebase LIVE!

If you'd rather start a new thread for an individual person or topic suggestion, feel free to do that too!

We will use this thread as a place to centralize suggestions, but feel free to suggested these in individual threads, if you prefer.

Happy posting!

How about a livestream with Dr. Molly Gebrian? She just published a new book: Learn Faster, Perform Better: A Musician’s Guide to the Neuroscience of Practicing. Pretty awesome stuff. Lots of great advice on practicing, backed up with research.

    She has a website: https://www.mollygebrian.com/

Here is the book on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Learn-Faster-Perform-Better-Neuroscience/dp/0197680070/ref=sr_1_1?crid=24A1KF80BKUBM&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.UOIdoIl7jZdylBrteJJjDw.O9EJkoj5PEPXgRHFmtDYHifI8PzVIwKWTxXLJgNYdSA&dib_tag=se&keywords=molly+gebrian+learn+faster+perform+better&qid=1725313766&sprefix=molly+gebrian%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-1

I know we’ve talked about the Doctrine of Affections for a livestream but wanted to add another one that I know some members would love to see:

    French Baroque Ornamentation

    French Baroque Composers/Music

    etc

    Thanks Dominic!

I don't know if this is the right thread to suggest this, but at some point there should be an underrated/less-known composers/underplayed pieces by famous composers Community Challenge.

I’m an intermediate student and I’d like to suggest a livestream on how to use weight and not be so stiff while playing the piano. These are the 2 items my piano teacher mentioned every week but I don’t really know how to really achieve them. It just doesn’t come naturally to me as an adult piano student. The piece I often get criticized for being stiff is Moonlight 3rd movement, also ghost notes (e.g. how to avoid ghost notes in moonlight 1st movement while playing pp and using weight, how does shape of wrist and arm movement take place when applying weight in moonlight mov 1 &3) The 1st time I learned drawing a circle half circle with wrist was Bach inventions, my teachers in the past and now speak of drawing circles differently, one says must use weight to naturally draw circles but circles are not required in Bach inventions and the other says drawing circles are required in Bach inventions, I’m not sure what to follow, would love to learn more about these under shape better as my friends whom are my level even got hand injury by using wrong /no shapes and weight. My apologies if this is too basic for many folks :))
