    Hi everyone,

After a debilitating couple of months suffering with psychical/spiritual transformations and transfigurations, I finally had energy enough to practice, and learned this piece today. I hope you enjoy. It is by Medtner, a Russian composer who I hope is becoming more well known. He certainly deserves the same attention as Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and other prominent Russian composers (in my opinion)!! Thanks for listening. I do hope you are well. Thank you for all of your support and encouragement.

May you be always in the presence of peace which transcends all of our understanding,

    Brother Will +

    Finally!

After battling with much 'spiritual warfare' as it is called in the Christian tradition (and how rightly!!) I can affirm the concert will be going on as planned! By the end of the month of May I do hope to have the Rachmaninoff Concerto no. 3 ready. In the mean time, I have been preparing the Preludes of Rachmaninoff, of which I'll play five. Here's one of my favorites. Written at the birth of his daughter, we can call this prelude of Rachmaninoff 'autobiographical'.    :)

I pray you are well. Do be careful with your minds and spirits these days, as we are told they are filled with the most darkness yet known to mankind. But know this - the LIGHT has won, LOVE will triumph! God bless you all.

    • Brother Will Green Bravo, I enjoyed your performance馃幎  while eating chocolate cake and sipping coffee. 馃槂 So typical Rachmaninov. Reminds very much of his second concerto.

A beautiful prelude by a contemporary of Rachmaninoff. He's not as well known, but I think he has wonderfully inspired pieces. What do you think?

    • Will Green Sounded a bit like something Rachmaninoff could have written in my ears. Some wonderful harmonies and melodies there. Beautifully played! Glad to see you are back on the forum!

    • Will Green I appreciate you posting these--I also hear Rachmaninoff. It's a reminder that all composers come out of a specific musical milieu, and are influencing and influenced by their contemporaries. I love the drama of your interpretation.

Another prelude by Blumenfeld. Reminds me of a longing for the unattainable... what about you? x

    • Will Green I'd never heard of Felix Blumenfeld before. Quite the pedigree! I agree with you--a searching piece. Looking for heaven? Beautifully played!

Will Green They are gorgeous pieces and you play them with mastery, shaping beautifully the long phrases. A question I'm thinking about: is there something of Tristan and Isolde in the Prelude op. 17 n潞 19馃?

I have been enjoying playing through some Mendelssohn today and thought I would share some personal favorites of his pieces from Song Without Words.
