Brother (Br.) Will's Practice Diary
Hey tonebase community!
I am so enthused to be a part of this music-loving community. As a former piano performance major, I thoroughly enjoy sharing music with whomever I can, and being a supporter of all performers of every stripe. Continuing to concertize privately amongst my community, and sometimes travelling to perform by request, I am still active as a concert pianist, though I have obtained a degree in philosophy and will be attending seminary to become a priest (through quite supranatural turns of events, I must say!)
I am planning to give a recital in the springtime, and have just begun to work on the new repertoire which I have recently purchased and received. The repertoire includes:
Bartok - Piano Sonata
Messiaen - Prelude no. 1 "La Colombe" (The Dove)
Prelude no. 3 "Le nombre léger" (The Light Number)
Prelude no. 7 "Plainte calme" (Calm Plaint)
Prokofiev - Sonata no. 3 in a minor, op. 28
Rachmaninoff - Etude Tableaux in g minor, op. 33 no. 8
Rachmaninoff/Arr. Peng-Peng Gong - Piano Concerto no. 3 in d minor, op. 30
I very much look forward to updating my log to share my progress and journey with this recital music! Thanks so much for your support and encouragement, and I look forward also to encouraging all of you as you journey ahead with your musical endeavors. Ciao!

Hi Brother Green, it was great to meet you last weekend at the dress rehearsal and I'm really looking forward to hearing you play! This clip you've posted of the Prokofiev is awesome. I think it's so fantastic that you've kept up your cops while pursuing your studies to become a priest.
Where and when will your upcoming spring recital take place?

Hey everyone!
I'm completely changing this repertoire! I am notorious for doing this.... sometimes I've changed the repertoire the night before the concert... one time I was in a terrible accident, and had to change it two weeks in advance... at least this time, I have some time!
So, I'm now going to be playing a concert called-
Russians: Favorite and Forgotten
All music by Russian composers! I'm keeping the third concerto of Rachmaninoff on this program - that's a definite favorite! I'll be updating more and finalizing the new program soon. Thanks for all of your comments and support! I absolutely LOVE this community!
May God sustain your spirit and inspire your music. Hope you are all doing well.
XOXO

Hi everyone,
After a debilitating couple of months suffering with psychical/spiritual transformations and transfigurations, I finally had energy enough to practice, and learned this piece today. I hope you enjoy. It is by Medtner, a Russian composer who I hope is becoming more well known. He certainly deserves the same attention as Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and other prominent Russian composers (in my opinion)!! Thanks for listening. I do hope you are well. Thank you for all of your support and encouragement.
May you be always in the presence of peace which transcends all of our understanding,
Brother Will +

Finally!
After battling with much 'spiritual warfare' as it is called in the Christian tradition (and how rightly!!) I can affirm the concert will be going on as planned! By the end of the month of May I do hope to have the Rachmaninoff Concerto no. 3 ready. In the mean time, I have been preparing the Preludes of Rachmaninoff, of which I'll play five. Here's one of my favorites. Written at the birth of his daughter, we can call this prelude of Rachmaninoff 'autobiographical'. :)
I pray you are well. Do be careful with your minds and spirits these days, as we are told they are filled with the most darkness yet known to mankind. But know this - the LIGHT has won, LOVE will triumph! God bless you all.
