Angela Hewitt on memory
Hi All,
Interesting article in The Guardian this morning on memorising music, by Angela Hewitt, who, we can probably all agree, knows one or two things about playing the piano:

Sardines and bananas are the key.

Thanks for sharing. Great article! I had never heard perfect pitch being linked to memory. Angela says her perfect pitch, like her memory is waning. I am a year older than her and have noticed my perfect pitch is not as perfect as it once was. I was told this was due to a change in ear wax as we age. Does anyone else have perfect pitch that has changed as they aged? My memory seems to be as good or better than ever (so far).

Thank you, Phil. Wonderful article with lots of things to think about and incorporate. It is even encouraging to someone like me who's memorized very little at and off the keyboard throughout lie and is now focusing on it. Right now, I am correlating my memory of how I know it sounds (through singing) to where the tones probably are on the keyboard to help find the notes, as well as a number of other things (for discussion at a more appropriate time). But it is a great article and I appreciate that you shared it with us.
