Burgmüller hairpins

Hello, I have a question about the hairpins in Burgmüller. I read/heard that hairpins in romantic style rather mean rubato than crescendo/decrescendo. Is that always the case, or is it a mix?…

@Linda Gould @Tat Hien Khoa I tested a DS 6.0 at a fair. Took me 3 minutes to get adapted when looking at the keys. I guess in 1 or 2 days I'd get used to the distances blind as well.
