I am an amateur. I had lessons as a child up to about 15 years old, but did not enjoy them much. I stopped then and restarted later, when I had serious lessons and sat for ABRSM grades. I achieved grade 5 practice and theory. I narrowly missed grade 6 by a couple of percentage points, which was quite upsetting. I stopped again.
About 2 years ago I restarted! I replaced my upright with a grand, to provide added incentive! I love the rich and resonant sound.
My goal is to play for my own pleasure at a higher level. I want to improvise better too. Also I would like to be able to perform better for friends and family.
My interests are a little eclectic: classical, jazz, minimalism, film and pop.
I am not intending to sit any more grades, as I prefer to gain skills by playing only pieces that I like.
As well as piano, I paint portraits on commission, sing opera as an amateur and enjoy Argentine Tango dancing. I have had a career in IT.
