I just read that there is a 2 mm difference in octave width across brands.

@Peter Lemken, clavierhaus I didn't mean a significant difference, it just seemed to me like Steinways, for example, had slightly wider keys than Brodmanns.

@Noel Nguyen Yes. I thought it was light but also stiff, and the tone was "brighter" than what I was looking for; I generally prefer European pianos.

I have a Marantz MPM 1000 and I have trouble recording my upright without it sounding not at all how it actually does. Does anyone have ideas?

@Peter Lemken, clavierhaus What I meant is that in my experience, it has seemed like some pianos' keys are wider than others. I know that the key depth can be adjusted.

@Peter Lemken, clavierhaus I have heard that. That was when they were owned by Kimball, right? The Bösendorfers I have played have been well-regulated and easy to control.

Dream piano: either Seiler 278 or Bösendorfer Imperial 290 Favorite pianos I have played: Seiler 132 and Bösendorfer 225.

Either Seiler or Bösendorfer. I have a Seiler 132 SMR (magnetic action to increase repetition speed).

@Karen I think the default is polished black. They offer polished, satin, and oiled finishes. I have a polished black and rosewood Seiler 132 with Super Magnetic Repetition.…
