Re: Week 2: Clarity and Articulation!
@Claire In my experience, Bartok's editing choices are sometimes strange. @Claire said: I can't sort out those ornaments, especially going to the semiquavers in the 2nd bar. Those are mordents.…

Re: Piano Manufacturers and Brands: A discussion!
@Linda Gould I have a Seiler 132 with SMR (Super Magnetic Repetition), which I said a decent amount about earlier in the thread. In a side-by-side comparison with a Bösendorfer 225, a Yamaha YUS5,…

Re: Week 2: Clarity and Articulation!
I have the first movement mostly memorized, but I am still trying to figure out the best fingerings, as there are quite a few awkward passages. I am not quite at the point where I can work on…

Re: “Who are pianists that you think more people should know about?”
@Rainer Joos I believe Martha Argerich, Nelson Freire, Rudolf Buchbinder, and Mitsuko Uchida also studied with Seidlhofer.

Re: “Who are pianists that you think more people should know about?”
@Rainer Joos I know that Gulda, Demus, Badura-Skoda, and Haebler all studied with Seidlhofer. They are all quite different from each other; Gulda and Haebler may be the farthest from each other in…

Re: What piece of music never fails to make you smile or feel uplifted, and why?
I hadn't realized that was a Goethe quote! Almost everything from that era, especially in the German-speaking region, was somehow related to Goethe; for that reason the time period from 1770 to 1840…

Re: Mastering Tricky Passages and answering your questions!
@Noel Nguyen That sounds potentially hard on your wrists and hands. Do your forearms slant upward, and are you able to play with curved fingers? Also, it would be easy for you to sit low at a Seiler;…

@Priya Viseskul Occasionally lowering the bench is a good idea. I also keep my bench on the higher side as my keyboard is higher than average, but I don't sit high relative to the keys.

Re: “Who are pianists that you think more people should know about?”
@Rainer Joos You should avoid screen time if you have a concussion, but listening to music is helpful for recovery. Did you know that Gulda was Martha Argerich's teacher?…

@Linda Gould Depending on what you mean, the answer to her piano's problem was a particular tuning (the "Schubert tuning").

@Doug Weiss I just experimented with many possible fingerings and what I think works best is (starting with the sixteenth notes) 1231 2341 2342 3454 1231 2341 3453 4.
